The Department of Computing at the University of Surrey is looking to recruit a Research Assistant for a full-time position as soon as possible. The position is part of the Public Engagement with STEM research project on clinician-in-the-loop AI-assisted dental disease detection and the post holder will join the Nature-Inspired Computing and Engineering (NICE) group in Surrey. The position is fixed-term and full-time until July 31, 2022.

Dental radiography is an essential tool for the diagnosis of dental diseases. Interpretation of dental x-rays is time-consuming and often error-prone due to a wide variety of tooth structures, positioning and orientation errors, and the large amount of x-rays that need to be analyzed. An automatic solution for reporting abnormalities in dental radiography is needed to improve the cost of detection accuracy and reduce economic and human costs. This project is looking for a full-stack developer to develop a web-based X-ray annotation collection platform that integrates machine learning into the annotation process to streamline the process.
