NUC approves 8 new programmers for Al-Qalam University in Katsina


The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved eight new undergraduate and postgraduate programs for Al-Qalam University in Katsina.

This is contained in a statement released to reporters Thursday in Katsina by the head of the university’s public affairs unit, Akilu Abubakar.

“The programs are BSc. (Ed) Accounting, BSc (Ed) Computer Science, BSc (Ed) Economics and also BSc (Ed) Home Economics.

“Others include; MA (Ed/PhD) Arabic Education; MA (Ed/PhD.) English Education; MA (Ed/PhD.) Hausa and MA (Ed/PhD) Teaching Islamic Studies,” the statement read.

According to the statement, the approved programs, comprising four undergraduate programs and four postgraduate programs, will start in the 2021/2022 academic session.

“NUC’s approval was based on the resource verification visit by different groups of experts sent to the university in August 2021.

“A letter conveying the endorsement of the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, was received on November 25, 2021, signed on his behalf by the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. NB Saliu.

“All eight programs are full-time and would be run on the university’s main campus,” the statement said.
